    通常来讲，人造文化石模具用塑胶和硅橡胶来制作模具，塑胶模具为早些年所用，其具有造价相对低廉的优势，但是塑胶模具一般不够精细，颜色比较难上上去，颜料吸收率低，所以常会出现“花脸”。另外，塑胶模具在模具生产时因为要在高温下融化成型，能耗高会气味大污染环境所以也过不了环保局环评这一关。
    文化石用模具硅胶是依据文化石生产的特殊要求而开发的品种。其分高、中、低档共六个品种。因文化石的生产材料的特殊性，要求文化石用模具硅橡胶具有同一般树脂用模具硅胶所不同的耐热、耐膨胀以及不同的硬度、耐酸碱和抗撕拉能力，所以为适应文化石模具的特殊要求建议切不可混用。
    近年来，人造文化石厂采用硅橡胶来生产文化石模具，模具成型简单产量高，而且硅橡胶文化石模具纹理细腻色料吸收率较高，所以一般规模化人造文化石厂家都使用硅橡胶模具。
    模具硅胶操作方法:
    1、 硅胶与固化剂搅拌均匀，模具硅胶外观是流动的液体，A组分是硅胶，B组分是固化剂，例：取100克硅胶，加入2克固化剂（注：硅胶与固化剂一定要搅拌均匀，如果没有搅拌均匀，模具会出现固化干燥不均匀的状况而影响硅胶模具的使用寿命及翻模次数，甚至造成模具报废。
    2、 抽真空排气泡处理：硅胶与固化剂搅拌均匀后进行抽真空排气泡环节，抽真空的时间不宜太久，不超过10分钟，否则硅胶固化产生交联反应，无法进行涂刷或灌注，造成材料浪费。
    3、 涂刷操作过程：把排过气泡的硅胶：以涂刷或灌注的方式倒在母模上（在刷模或灌注前母模上打隔离剂或脱模剂）刷模一定要均匀，30分钟后粘一层沙布或玻璃纤维布来增加模具的强度和拉力，在进行第二次涂刷再粘贴一层纱布或玻璃纤维布，再进行硅胶涂刷，经过这样处理出来的模具具有使用寿命及翻模次数多，使用寿命长，节省成本，提高效益。
    4、 外模的制作一般采用的方法是将模具四周用胶板或木板围起来，一种是采用石膏将模框灌满就可以，另一种外模是采用树脂涂刷的方式涂刷一层树脂涂刷一层玻璃纤维布再涂刷再粘贴，反复两三层就可以完成外模。
    5、 硅胶（矽胶、矽利康）与固化剂配比反映的情况：建议固化剂添加量不可超过5%，固化剂添加比例越大，固化时间越快，模具越脆，使用寿命短。还可依据产品和工艺要求适量加入硅油制模效果更好，注意硅油不宜过量（5%-10%），否则影响硅胶模具的拉力和硬度。
